About the Service
The Heritage Protection Service was set up under the heritage ordinance of 1997 to keep the State Register of Monuments of History and Culture and to protect the monuments in it. It runs the open-air museums, including the Caravanserai of Rabat-i-Safed, issues permits for excavations and for works on monuments, receives declared finds and is the state body for the World Heritage properties on the territory of Irad.
For the Church of St. Janyl the Service works with the archeparchy, which owns and runs the precinct: the Service approves works on the fabric, part-funds conservation and paid for the survey and scan for the church's virtual tour under the World Heritage management plan.
